Early Training

Hannah Harrison began her dance journey at 3 years old at Lucretia’s School of Dance in Bainbridge, Georgia. At twelve years old, she began training at Off Broadstreet Centre for the Dance Arts in Cairo, Georgia. Here, she trained in ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop. She competed competitively with The FIRM Dance Company throughout middle and high school. Additionally, she was an assistant teacher of Preschool and intermediate classes as a senior.

Professional Career

After high school, Harrison began teaching and choreographing for The FIRM Dance Company. She was promoted to Assistant Director of Off Broadstreet Centre for the Dance Arts in 2018. As AD, she assisted with administrative duties while continuing her duties as an instructor. During productions, Hannah was responsible for various aspects of the show including background graphics, audio editing, lighting cues, staging, and script writing. With The FIRM Dance Company, Harrison won many choreography awards, overall awards, and national championships (read more about awards here). She continued as Assistant Director of OBCDA and The FIRM Dance Company until 2024.

In addition, Harrison pioneered a dance program at Cairo High School in 2018. Here, she taught elective dance classes to high school students daily and ended each semester with a showcase. The students, many of whom couldn’t afford to take dance in a studio, studied basic dance technique, terminology, and history. Harrison also established the CHS Red and Black Dance Team, the first GHSA Athletic Dance Team of the high school. She led the team to become the state runner-up in 2020. She continued growing this program before leaving the school in 2022.

Harrison has also choreographed for other programs in Southwest Georgia. She choreographed several shows for the CHS Stage Makers and the Washington Middle School Drama Club including Into the Woods, Footloose, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid Jr., and Frozen Jr. She also set choreography for the Bainbridge High School Dance Line, Miss Thomasville Scholarship Pageant, Family Worship Center Easter Production, Thomasville Middle School Dance Dawgs, and Thomasville High School Red Hots. With Harrison’s choreography, the Red Hots won several first and second place awards across the state.

Education

Harrison graduated cum laude from Valdosta State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Management in 2019. She is enrolled at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and she currently is writing a thesis that explores modifications and adaptations for students with disabilities in the dance classroom. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA in this program, and is anticipated to graduate from UNCG in Spring 2025.

Currently

Currently, Harrison is working full time as a Graphic Designer at The Ken Young Company. She also continues to freelance choreograph in the area and is currently the jazz/lyrical choreographer and assistant coach for the Thomasville High School Red Hots. Harrison also has a three year old son, Asher, who inspires much of her creativity.
